"Hidden in Plain Sight: Unlocking the Potential for Mid- Career Women"
About the Event: This is part of our bi-monthly Member Meeting Networking and Learning Series. The purpose of the meeting is to welcome new and returning members, provide updates on SHRM Portage County activities, and listen to a speaker presentation on an HR topic of interest to our membership.
For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.
About the Session: This session is designed to support HR leaders and talent developers in tackling a frustrating (but fixable) gap: the mid-career stall.
According to McKinsey’s 2023 Women in the Workplace report, the biggest drop-off in women’s leadership advancement happens at the first manager level. For every 100 men promoted, only 87 women are, and the gap grows as they progress. And as LeanIn.org notes, 60% of women say they’ve been overlooked for advancement due to “readiness bias.”
Many talented women are stuck in execution mode, quietly excelling but not advancing their careers. This session helps change that.
Participants will walk away with:
-
The 6 unspoken rules that often hold mid-career women back
-
A proven framework to help women build strategic visibility and presence
-
Real quotes from senior leaders on what they wish they had learned earlier
-
3 actionable tools HR teams can use to support women’s advancement right now
It’s a powerful standalone session for SHRM chapters and a great launch point for internal manager training or ERG workshops.
