1) Chapter Website Upgrade Tester
Our SHRM Portage County chapter website is hosted by National SHRM. The technology is old and a tad cumbersome - which I am sure you have experienced. Although most neighboring chapters have moved to 3rd party fee-based website support, we remained with SHRM because it is free - saving the chapter money to apply toward programs and services.
This year, SHRM embarked on an endeavor to install new hosted-website technology. They completed an analysis of chapters using their hosted services to determine those most suited to participate in a pilot testing the functionality of the new software. This week we were notified SHRM Portage County was selected to participate in this pilot. This is very exciting news and aligns with our goal of installing current website technology. The board voted to move forward with the pilot. As a pilot participant, we get early access to the upgraded system, along with support and training to help explore the new features. In return, we will provide feedback on our experience; identifying any issues we encounter.
I am organizing a team and am looking for volunteers. We need 3 people to help evaluate the features and functions of the new technology and provide feedback. For those who have considered volunteering but are concerned about the time commitment, this is a short-term, project-based, time bound activity that will occur in the fall. SHRM is anticipating:
- training in late September (couple hours | virtual),
- initial systems testing the first two weeks of October (couple hours each week),
- launching the new website at the end of the month, and
- troubleshooting the first few weeks of November (couple hours).
If you have participated in a systems install or completed user functionality testing before - this is an ideal volunteer opportunity!
