    On behalf of The Portage County Safety Council, SHRM Portage County invites you to join PCSC's August Meeting titled:

    "Staying Safe with Lithium-Ion Batteries"


    ABOUT THE EVENT:  This is part of our PCHRA 2025 Health and Safety Learning Series. We are partnering with the Portage County Safety Council to provide business owners, HR and Health & Safety professionals an understanding of the 2025 topcis related to workplace safety.

    This month the focus is on burn precention in the workplace. 

    For this event, participants can learn and earn 1 SHRM PDC.

    ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: This training provides a comprehensive overview of batteries found in transportation, commercial, industrial, and residential settings and will cover:

    • Identification

    • Lithium vs. Lithium-Ion

    • Battery Design

    • Hazard and Risk Assessment

    • Thermal Runaway

    • Lithium-Ion Battery Fires

    • Hazardous Materials Air Monitoring and Tactical Response Considerations

    ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Nick Zamiska, President, Bad Day Training and Consulting. Nick has been in the fire service for 23 years, retiring as the Chief of Fire with the Brecksville Fire Department in Brecksville, Ohio. Nick was a Team Leader for the Cuyahoga County Type 1 Hazmat/WMD Team. He has a Master’s in Public Administration degree from Columbia Southern University and is a member of the NFPA hazardous materials technical committee, NFPA 470 and 475.
